FAQ
■
My employees already know
how to read - why is this seminar necessary?
■
What will my employees
learn in this seminar?
■
How is it possible to improve my employees' reading skills
in as little as 6 hours?
■
How is your seminar different from "speed reading"
programs?
■
Does this seminar provide quantifiable results?
■
Can this seminar be customized?
■
What is the cost?
The reading technique we learned as children
was designed to help us comprehend highly
structured materials, in a predictable and
controlled learning environment. As
working adults, we are faced with volumes
of complex, poorly structured reading material.
Combine this with work and family responsibilities
and that 20-page chapter in a school textbook
becomes pleasure-reading.
Your employees
will learn how to:
►
Improve their critical reading and thinking
skills
►
Improve their concentration skills while
reading
►
Increase their overall reading speed
►
Improve their overall comprehension
►
Improve their retention and recall of everything
they read
►
Find key information quickly and accurately
►
Decipher complex reading materials
►
Time manage their reading assignments
We will show your employees how to recognize words
and phrases in a way that is common for fast readers. We will also show
them how to use their preferred
learning and thinking style to comprehend
complex material within their field, and outside of their field of expertise -
an extremely important skill for effective cross-training (or to prepare
individuals for broader responsibilities).
The longer 12-hour seminar format will provide advanced content and allow for
more in-class practice of the reading methods to ensure each participant leaves
the seminar with a faster reading speed with improved comprehension.
Difference #1
-
Reading Speed
This is not a gimmick course. Many
"speed reading" programs will show you how
to "view" 5,000 words per minute or faster,
which is useful for researching or reviewing
material, but it is not reading -
it is scanning. To read beyond 1,000
words per minute requires you to skip words;
when you skip words, you lose comprehension.
As you know, simply having a general understanding
of the reading material is not always sufficient.
Technical materials, for example, require
a slower, more comprehensive reading approach
during certain sections. Our reading
methods actually work like a car accelerator
pedal - your employees will learn how to
adjust their reading speed to match the
material.
In fact, by the end of this seminar your
employees will see a dramatic improvement
in their reading speed and comprehension.
As they continue to apply our reading methods,
they should be able to exceed 5,000 words
per minute for "light" reading or research
work, and 600 words per minute for more
challenging material.

Difference #2
-
Reading Comprehension
A fast reading speed improves efficiency
only if the reader comprehends the material
the first time through. Therefore,
this seminar involves a heavy focus on reading
comprehension. We will show your employees
how to structure each reading assignment
to ensure the pertinent information is “locked”
in their head for quick comprehension and
fast recall.
To help each participant immediately apply
this new skill in their current job, they
will actually practice our reading strategies
on their own work-related documents (while
in the seminar).

are different from other training providers,

here.
Absolutely, we administer a pre-test during the
first class session and post-test during the final session. We will also
show your employees how to assess their own reading
skills in the future through self-testing.
Also, participants can
be sent our online post-seminar
assessment. The results can
be tabulated and summarized for
your review.
Each employee
will start this seminar with a different reading speed and level of
comprehension based on their level of education, their reading habits, their
motivation level...and frankly, how they were taught to read while in school.
Fortunately, this seminar is already customized to the individual needs of each
participant. We encourage participants to bring their own work-related
reading material to class so they can practice the reading strategies and
techniques immediately. Also, your organization can provide us with the
type of reading material you want your employees to master, and we will
customize the seminar to ensure your training objectives are met.
