Reason for Certification Process
This process has been designed to benefit our Program Representatives, Instructors, TLC clients and of course TLC. Once you have been certified to promote and/or teach TLC programs you will be able to utilize the full resources of TLC. Fortunately, you do not need to travel great distances or spend large sums of money to become certified (as is required with most training firms). However, to ensure our programs are promoted (and taught) properly - and ethically - we have created this certification process to tell us if you have the "right stuff" - and to help you recognize if being a TLC Program Representative or Instructor is right for you.
Certification Benefits for Program Representatives
Certification provides representatives access to TLC business cards, letterhead, a company e-mail account and address, web profile page and a toll-free phone number. When dealing with corporate or government entities such extensive business resources will help open many doors and establish your credibility as a professional in your field.

Certification Benefits for Contract Instructors
In addition to ensuring TLC programs maintain a high level of quality and consistency, certified instructors can focus solely on the instruction. TLC handles all client negotiation, contract development, registration procedures, payment processing, production and shipment of participant materials and participant/client follow-up.

* Cost of online seminar will be reimbursed after an instructor completes the instruction of a Target Learning seminar, or a representative generates $200 in seminar revenue. This process is necessary to ensure applicants are serious about this opportunity, and not just looking for a free seminar. |
| Step 1 – Online Seminar All representatives and instructors must first complete our core online seminar, "Target Reading - Online". This seminar contains most of the basic components used in all of our programs, and it displays a touch of our preferred instructional style. Representatives After completing Steps 1 & 2, you will have the option to become individually certified in each TLC program. This would require completing each online seminar that you choose to promote. Instructors After completing Step 1 - 5 the instructor will be TLC Certified to teach "Target Reading". To teach additional TLC programs the instructor will have to complete the applicable online seminar and Steps 2, 3 & 5. |
| Step 2 – Subject Exam Once you have completed our seminar "Target Learning - Online" (and any other preferred online seminar), and read through the applicable Instructor Binder Kit, we need to discover how much you know about the topics you will soon promote or teach. This process can be completed online (using our web-based exam), over the telephone or in person (based on where you live). If you have plans to only promote TLC programs (and not teach) this approach to certification may seem overly involved. However, as any experienced salesperson will tell you, potential clients will not waste their time talking to representatives who are not fully versed in their product or service. Since our representatives only receive compensation when a seminar runs, it is critical for you to make every contact count. |
| Step 3 - Contract Instructors Only TLC Instructor Binder Kits include all relevant seminar ouTLCnes, handouts, activities, transparencies, reading tests (if applicable) and detailed instructional tips for every TLC topic covered in your chosen program. In short, each binder will serve as a step by step guide to presenting our seminars as efficiently and effectively as possible. Click here for Instructor Binder Kit prices Naturally, we would like to provide our Instructor Binder Kits to instructors without charge, but the materials contained in each binder represent years of research and classroom experience. However, once you complete 6 hours of paid instruction for Target Learning we will gladly reimburse you for each binder that you purchase. As you can see, we are not interested in making money from your binder purchase(s); we simply need to be certain you are serious about representing our programs. |
| Step 4 - Contract Instructors Only We realize it may be somewhat of a hassle to produce a 15-minute video, but it is very important for us to visually examine your presentation style. After all, we all know from our college days that a person with numerous degrees does not necessarily make the best teacher. And since TLC programs have been designed to help make learning easier (and more fun) it would be shame to put our students to sleep during one of our seminars. Once you successfully complete Step 4 you will be eligible for a Temporary TLC Certification. This will allow you to teach your first TLC program on your own. |
| Step 5 - Contract Instructors Only Within two weeks of completing your first TLC program you will be evaluated by a TLC Director. Using input from the client (if applicable), participant evaluations and your own feedback, our director will determine if full TLC certification should be granted. |
Uncertified Program Representatives ("Lead Generators") Individuals who have not completed the certification process, or are not interested in becoming certified, can still refer individuals and groups to TLC and receive compensation for any leads that result in a paid enrollment and a completed TLC seminar. Contract Instructors can also provide leads to Target Learning and receive the same compensation as our Lead Generators. Click here for a description of our Lead Generator position. |
