       Target Listening
A 4 or 6-Hour Public Seminar to Help You Listen, Learn & Remember More Efficiently

Do you sometimes:

"Zone out" during meetings or discussions?
Have difficulty "reading" a person's body language?
Respond inappropriately during meetings or discussions?
Have difficulty taking effective notes during meetings or discussions?
Avoid speaking with certain people because you dislike their personality?
Have trouble retaining complex (or boring) information during meetings or discussions?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, you are not alone.  After all, listening is a skill that requires extensive practice and intense concentration.  Or does it?

Actually, the key to effective listening is to create a listening goal based on your personal thinking style, and the thinking style of your speaker.  This will make you a more active listener, and immediately improve your comprehension, retention and recall of every thing you hear.

Who should attend?

Anyone who would like to improve his or her listening and concentration skills.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to use your personal thinking style to:

Identify your listening mistakes before they happen
Identify your speaker’s true intentions to avoid misinterpretation
Take effective notes during meetings, classroom and training sessions
  Improve your overall concentration skills

You will also learn how to listen and respond appropriately during:

  Meetings and presentations
  Face-to-face conversations
  Telephone conversations
  Discussions with team members
Confrontations with angry (or hostile) customers

Why do you have different format lengths for the same seminar?

Some individuals can't spend a full day away from work - and some find it difficult to remain focused during a full-day seminar.  Therefore, we created a 4-hour seminar format to present you with all of the strategies necessary to achieve your learning objectives.  Of course, we assume you will immediately return to work after the seminar and apply these strategies to ensure maximum retention.

During our 6-hour format you will have the opportunity to extensively practice our strategies on your own work-related materials (i.e. document types or issues that you find personally challenging).

What makes this seminar different?

It is virtually impossible to remain completely attentive during every conversation, meeting or training session; none of us can maintain 100% focus, 100% of the time.  Therefore, we will show you how to recognize key phrases and non-verbal communication that will signal when to respond and how to elicit the desired reaction from the speaker.  After all, listening is only half the battle.
