| Common Student Questions & Concerns ■ I don't have time to take a 5, 10, 15 or 20-hour seminar.
I don't have time to take a 5, 10, 15 or 20-hour seminar. Each session will meet during your normal school schedule, so you can use one of your free periods to attend the seminar. And at the beginning of the seminar, you will receive a three-ring binder containing all the handouts and materials for this program. Therefore, if your schedule prevents you from attending a particular session you will still have the materials to review on your own. To ensure each session is productive, you will actually apply the study techniques using your current homework assignments. As a result, we will make certain you are applying the techniques properly - while you are completing your homework. There are no outside assignments for this program. Overall, our reading and study skills strategies will make you a more efficient student. Some of the immediate time-saving benefits mentioned (by our past students) are: ● Less daydreaming while reading See Student Comments & Student Reading Scores My current schedule doesn’t have room for another class, even for only 1 or 2 weeks. We want you to honor all of your commitments while at school - whether they are academic, athletic, extracurricular, and even social. Because of this, we realize you may not have any free periods during the day. To help, we can run sessions as late as 9:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday). If there is enough interest, we can even offer sessions on Saturday and Sunday. For those who are severely time-challenged, we can also arrange special times to make up for missed sessions.
You will receive a detailed course outline describing when we will present each topic (and learning technique). This will allow you to attend the sessions that are the most relevant to your specific needs. Of course, we do encourage you to attend as many sessions as possible since our learning techniques have helped even top performing students become more efficient and effective at their studies. Most generic study skills courses are designed for the "average" student and for "average" learning conditions. But as you know, every student is different and has unique needs; and learning conditions constantly change - each teacher has a different presentation style, and different expectations. And it's probably safe to say that you are not 100% motivated to learn every single day. Our reading and study skills seminars are definitely not generic. Early in the seminar, we will help you discover your most natural (and comfortable) way to learn through a variety of learning and thinking assessments. During the seminar, you will have the opportunity to try a variety of flexible techniques on your current homework to see which technique best fits your learning and thinking style. In fact, our past students have said the process felt so natural, it didn't feel like they were even applying a technique. If you don't remember something presented during the seminar (or if you encounter a new study problem after the seminar), you can contact us at our toll-free phone number (888) 514-5904 (or e-mail at info@targetlearning.net). This is a free service that you can use at any time after you complete the seminar (up to 6 months following the seminar, or to the end of the school year) to get personalized answers to your questions.
